What it stands for
Everything in a chart turns around the Sun. It shows your core self, your will and the steady life force that keeps you going.
A strong Sun brings confidence, warmth and a natural authority. People come to you for advice. The shadow side is pride that tips into showing off, and digging in when someone tries to order you about.
The sign the Sun was in when you were born is your Sun sign, the one in your daily horoscope.
How it was read before
The older books called the Sun the backbone of the whole chart. They paired it with the Moon: the Sun as the deeper self, the Moon as the personality that meets the world.
When the Sun and Moon got along in a chart, they said a person's inner self and outer self worked together. When they clashed, a person could feel pulled two ways.
The Sun rules Leo and was thought to be at its strongest in Aries.
Sit with this
Your light does not need anyone's permission.
Sit with this: where in your life are you shining, and where are you dimming yourself to fit in?
