A modern addition

Pluto

Pluto is the planet of deep change, endings and rebirth. Astrologers began reading it after it was found in 1930.

What it stands for

Pluto works slowly and underneath. Where it sits in a chart, life asks you to let something go so that something truer can grow.

Modern astrologers link it to power, to what is hidden, and to the kind of change that leaves you a different person on the other side.

It moves so slowly that it spends many years in each sign. Like Neptune, its sign speaks about a whole generation as much as about one person.

How it came into astrology

Clyde Tombaugh found Pluto in 1930, three years after the book this library draws on was written, so nothing about it here comes from that book.

Astrologers soon gave it Scorpio, alongside Mars. In 2006 astronomers reclassified it as a dwarf planet. Most astrologers still read it.

Sit with this

Some endings are really beginnings in disguise. I see that again and again with the Death card.

Sit with this: what part of you is quietly asking to be reborn?
