Reiki Disclosure
Before you book Reiki, California asks me to tell you a few things in writing. I'd want you to know them anyway.
Effective [EFFECTIVE DATE].
The disclosure
Please read this before you book Reiki with me. California law asks me to tell you these things in writing, and I'd want you to know them anyway.
I am not a licensed physician. I'm not a doctor, nurse, psychologist, therapist or any other licensed health professional.
Reiki is an alternative or complementary practice. It sits alongside the healing arts the state licenses; it is not one of them, and it doesn't replace them.
These services are not licensed by the state. Rosemary is not licensed by the state as a healing arts practitioner. No California license covers Reiki, and I don't hold one.
What a Reiki reading with me is. You book 30 or 60 minutes. Most people lie down somewhere quiet with the lights low. We're on a call together, so I'm with you at a distance. [IN-PERSON: add "For in-person bookings I'm in the room with you, with light touch on the shoulders, head and feet, or no touch at all, as you prefer, and you stay fully clothed."] I speak very little. I hold my attention on you and on white light moving through you from the crown down, and I let anything that feels heavy go as it shows itself. Some people feel warmth or tingling, some fall asleep, and some feel nothing in particular. All of that is fine. We talk for a few minutes at the end about what I noticed in your energy, and I send a short note afterward.
The theory behind it. Reiki is a Japanese practice from the early twentieth century. The idea is that there is a life energy in and around the body, that it can become blocked or heavy, and that a practitioner trained to work with it can help it settle and flow through intention and attention. I work with the seven main energy centers, the chakras, and I picture white light entering at the crown and moving down through them. This is a spiritual practice and a belief. It has not been shown by medical science to treat any condition, and I don't claim that it does.
What it's for. Reiki with me is for relaxation and wellbeing; not a medical treatment. People book it to rest, to feel held, to quiet their minds and to come back into balance. That is the whole of what I offer.
What I don't do. I don't diagnose anything. I don't treat illness, physical or mental. I don't prescribe, and I never suggest that you stop, start or change a medication or a treatment your doctor has given you. If you have a health concern, please see a licensed professional, and keep seeing them. Reiki at a distance involves no touch and no device. If you're pregnant or living with a serious condition, you're welcome to tell your doctor you're doing it.
My training. [TRAINING: for example, "I received Reiki Level I and II attunements from [TEACHER] in [YEAR], and Master level in [YEAR]. I've practiced Reiki since [YEAR]." If no formal lineage can be named, write "I learned Reiki from [TEACHER OR SOURCE] in [YEAR] and have practiced since [YEAR]." Do not write "certified" unless the certificate and the teacher are named.]

The one-sentence version
This sentence sits beside the Reiki price on the Readings page and under every mention of Reiki on the site:
Reiki with Rosemary is for relaxation and wellbeing, not a medical treatment, and Rosemary is not licensed by the state as a healing arts practitioner.
The build brief's two-part form, for places where two short lines fit better: "For relaxation and wellbeing; not a medical treatment. Rosemary is not licensed by the state as a healing arts practitioner."
